RE: Concrete Shield Test
The UFSAR for any commercial nuclear power plant has a whole litany of tests
and references for the fabrication of concrete structures. Most of the
quality checks are in the concrete specifications before the actual pour.
One of the few post-pour checks would be a hardness or compression test
several days after the pour. The UFSAR may have some reasonable references
for your specific case.
There is much more to the science of concrete and steel reinforcement than
you would expect.

Subject: Concrete Shield Test
We have a discussion going on over the need to perform a concrete
shield wall integrity test of a new remote handled waste facility we are
designing. I have not been able to find anything to assist with my side of
the discussion stating that it is mandatory to perform one or under what
conditions it needs to be done.
I am looking for specific references dealing with the shielding
topic that I may not have read (ANSI standards, CFRs, DOE regs etc). Your
help is appreciated.
