The real issue at Storm King Mountain is that Con Ed wanted to open the
newly created reservoir to ordinary people for recreational purposes such as
picnicing and fishing.

The people who lived in the area did not want that kind of people in their
neigborhood.

They hired a Madison Avenue PR firm to concoct an environmental rationale
for their opposition.

Con Ed was never denied a permit for Storm King.  However, they also didn't
get permits.

Con Ed finally gave up and built other generating capacity.

Sounds like Ward Valley!
