Uranium Institute News Briefing 99.30 | 21-27 July 1999
[NB99.30-15] Yugoslavia: 'Radioactive air pollution' as a result of the use
of depleted uranium-tipped shells during the Kosovo conflict has been
detected, but no 'alarming evidence of contamination' has yet been found by
UN experts who have started field work in the region. The Balkans Task Force
of the UN environment programme is to make its report on the situation in
September after further studies of the environmental impact of the conflict.
