THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Engineer (Health Physics) in Safety & Environmental Protection Office

Salary:  HK$46,190 - $64,820 per month (i.e. USD 71,500 - 100,000 per
annum based on current exchange rate of 1 USD = 7.75 HK$)

The appointee will be responsible for implementing a Radiation Safety
Program comprising of elements such as inventory control, facility
contamination survey, dosimetry, bioassay, training, internal
authorization scheme, waste management, emergency response, exposure
assessment, environmental monitoring, inspections & audits, etc.  Close
working relationship with faculty members, research staff and students is
essential.  The assignment will cover both ionizing and non-ionizing
radiation sources together with some general safety management
responsibilities such as medical surveillance, safety training
co-ordination, quality assurance, liaison with Governmental agencies, etc.

Applicants should have a higher degree in health physics or related fields
plus at least 6 years' relevant experience in radiation safety management.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are
necessary.  Work experience in the academic and research environment and
possession of professional certification in health physics or associated
disciplines are highly desirable.

Appointment will normally be on a three-year contract; a gratuity will be
payable upon successful completion of the contract.  Re-appointment will
be subject to mutual agreement.  Assistance in housing will be provided
where applicable.  Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits,
annual leave, and children's education allowance are provided.
