Positions open at the University of Arizona
Health Physicist (job no. 15392): A Health Physicist develops and monitors a
radiation control program to ensure safe usage of radioactive material and
regulatory compliance. This position will be responsible for dosimetry
review. Requirements include:
Master's degree in Health Physics or related field AND three years of
radiation measurement and safety control experience or any equivalent
combination of experience, training and/ or education approved by Human
Resources.
Knowledge of NRC or Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (or other agreement
States) regulations is required.
Eligibility for early admission to Part One of the American Board of Health
Physics certification exam.
Experience in internal/external dosimetry.
Excellent communication skills.
Preferred qualifications include a master in health physics, being an
associate member of the Academy of Health Physics and experience with
nonionizing regulations and audits. For additional information, please see

Radiation Control Specialist (job no. 12767): Supports and participates in
the review of and/or coordinates activities for radiation control, including
radioactive waste processing, laboratory audits, regulatory compliance,
instrumentation, and radioactive package in-processing. The successful
candidate will assist our approval holders, work as a member of the
Radiological Control Organization Team and supervise less experienced team
members. These activities include work with hazardous materials and/or
difficult working conditions. Requirements include:
Bachelor's degree in Radiation Protection Technology or related field and
two years of radiation handling or monitoring experience; OR,
Six years of radiation handling or monitoring experience in a position of
increasing responsibility and
Certification by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists
(NRRPT).
Ability to lift 50 pounds
A valid Arizona Driver's license or the ability to get one prior to the
start of work and 2 years driving experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
NRRPT registered or NRRPT eligible.
At least two years of experience at a university or university medical
center.
Effective communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CHAMMP.
