rna mutation repair

Andy -- there are quite a few books, peer-reviewed papers, etc. on nucleic
acid repair in general. An older text but still very good is Arther (?)
Kornberg's book entitled DNA Synthesis. More recent papers can usually be
found in Radiation Research and cell/molecular biology journals.

In general you will find that RNA based organisms (if you consider a virus,
the ultimate parasite, an organism) do have the repair mechanisms very
similar to the DNA based organisms. This includes the specialize DNA
polymerases that contain the exonuclease, endonuclease systems.

hope this helps

Dear Radsafers,

I have another question to pose to you, quite off the topic of recent
postings. I am trying to learn about mutation repair in RNA and RNA-based
organisms. This is for an independent study project that is part of my
graduate work. I would greatly appreciate any references anyone in
Radsafe-land could provide as a starting point.

Thanks!

Andy
