Fritz,

I've done such ALARA analyses and have occasionally used DOE Document PNL-8724,
"Radiation Dose Assessment to Support Evaluations of Radiological Control Levels
for Recycling or Reuse of Material and Equipment."  This document provides
tables of dose conversion factors for bulk and surface contamination on/within
various materials.  The dose conversion factors were obtained through the use of
the GENII Software System and the EPA's CAP88-PC software.
