Radioactive adhesive tape with Ra-226

Can anyone please give me some historical data and information about   
sticky tape used for being visible in the dark.

This tape, approx 50 mm by 10 mm, is found on pieces of scrap metal from   
50 year old ships. Surface doserate is 0.2 mSv/h (20 mrem/h).

Who made the tape?
When was it made and used?
How many Bq (Ci) per cm2?
Other information?
