Re[3]: Irradiated milk to be available in Feb 2000 -Reply
Trying to repeal the "irradiated" label based solely on the fact that E-beams
are "non-nuclear" radiation IS deceiving - and it's wrong. And further stating
that the purpose of such an act is "to avoid confusion" is a fallacy. This
approach will only increase public confusion.
Also, why is non-nuclear ionizing radiation so much safer than nuclear ionizing
radiation that it deserves clarification on the label? As I seem to recall, a
rem of dose from electrons is equivalent to a rem of dose from beta radiation
(those "bad" nuclear electrons).
