Position Opening
The University of Texas at Arlington has an opening for a Safety Technician
II.
Duties:
25% Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in implementing radiation safety
programs to maintain compliance with University of Texas at Arlington's
(UTA) Broad Scope Radioactive Materials License, X-ray Registration, and
Laser Registration with the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation
Control.
25% Assist the Hazardous Waste Section to maintain compliance with UTA's
status as a Small Quantity Generator of hazardous waste with local, state,
and federal regulatory agencies, specifically the Texas Natural Resource
Conservation Commission.
30% Perform inspections to ensure compliance with UTA's NPDES Storm
Water Permit with the City of Arlington.
15% Perform inspections to ensure compliance with UTA's Wastewater
Discharge Permit with the city of Arlington.
5% Perform miscellaneous duties and assist other personnel as needed in
Environmental Health & Safety projects.
Requirements and Other Information:
Associate degree in science related field. With Associate degree, two years
experience. With High School Graduation, specialized training in radiation
safety or handling of hazardous materials and four years of experience in
radiation safety, hazardous waste, or general safety. Valid Texas Drivers
License required. Transcript required upon job offer. Starting salary:
$2148/month.+ benefits.
