RE: CHP Part I Study Materials

I did not follow the discussion very intensively but I will bring my two
cents: the key for CHP part I and part II exams is practice, practice and
practice.

Of course comprehensive knowledge in Health Physics is required but let`s
face it: We are talking about multiple choice exam for part I and
comprehensive exam for part II

That means , for part I, that no matter how cleaver or expert you are in a
field or in many fields, you CAN`T argue, you have to find the only good
available answer. And no, you can`t re-write the question so it makes more
"sense" !

So practice your timing with questions (one software is available) and small
problems in Cember, Shapiro, Knoll. Learn to understand what knowledge the
question is trying to assess. You can only achieve this with practice (unless
you are yourself a teacher in Health Physics...)

I took it easy, I studied for one CHP part exam each year and passed the
whole thing in 2 years. No waste of time. I did attend to preparatory
courses, each year, to jump start my study.

Approach for part II is different, as you need to work on a concise and
precise answer for each problem (even if the final answer is wrong, you can
score with proper assumptions, approximations).

I have heard great things concerning the Turner book. I will definitely
pick that up. I would like a copy of the errata sheet. Thanks for the
response.

I have received a surprising number of request for the errata set We give
our Master of Health Students, both live and internet. We plan to supply
copies of the errata set, as well as a brochure describing our program, by
mail. If you wish to receive the set, please include your mailing address
in the request. If you would like information about our Master of Health
Physics Degree program, which is available via the internet, please call me
at 847-965-1999.
