RE: Personnel Contamination Monitoring
At Prairie Island, we use a National Nuclear Corp. (NNC) Gamma-60 portal and
NNC Friskalls. Both checks are required upon exit from the RCA. The
Gamma-60 portal is set at about 150 nCi and the Friskalls (3) at about 4
nCi. We have another Gamma-60 at the guardhouse exit which is set at about
190 nCi. For suspected radon daughter contamination we look at half life,
beta/gamma to alpha ratio (using portable instrument) or gamma spec. Let me
