Hi John,

I agree with the comments regarding SOPs. I am a firm believer in 
verbatim compliance with SOPs. If the SOPs are too restrictive, and, 
there is no technical or quality basis for the steps, then he SOP 
should be revised. In any event, what is there should be followed.

In this case, while there were comments regarding the SOP, I think 
there was way too much emphasis on the dose received. Maybe the DOE 
manager was misquoted, or, the reporter put too much spin on the 
interview. In any event, the focus on the 274 mrem was a stretch, and 
more emphasis should be placed on the SOPs.
