Historical evidence indicates that over past centuries and millennia the
climate has been cyclical in nature and the Earth has experienced
alternating periods of extreme cold (ice ages), and heat. So, how can we
distinguish whether several years of increasing cold or heat are cataclysmic
in nature, or simply a periodic up or down cycle -- temporary in nature and
not worth worrying about-- unless , of course one is seeking government
funding to study the matter further.
