Yes, my thought was if these strange marks that appeared so quickly were from radiation, there would be severe erythema appearing later, which certainly would have been documented. Remember this is CBS, not exactly renowned for fairness and accuracy in journalism (Texas air national guard letters, 60 minutes, etc.). But now the poor parents are scared out of their wits, and more people will probably avoid having their kids get CTs that are needed for their medical care. I strongly advocate the use of appropriate exposure settings for pediatric CT and a general reduction in use of CTs in adults and children, but I believe there are RESPONSIBLE ways to get people's attention and bring about change on the issue, not the CBS/Brenner way. The HPS should be at the forefront of this issue, but I don't know if there are any active efforts ongoing.
