[ RadSafe ] Bus internet connections... / Lost teeth and a cellphone

When I read of extreme claims in the popular press or in mock scientific "papers" [as in the enless nonsense from the "Tooth Fairy" ProjectI]  I am also overcome by a vague ill-feeling , but it is most like an overpowering sensation of ennui.

On a similar theme to the post below to the EMR_EMF group. I recall a news article in  1994, during the height of popular news coverage related to DOE Secretary Hazel O'Leary's "Openness Initiative" under President Clinton to review "Human Radiation Experiments" funded by the US Government. Our Government spent $30 million to establish the "Advisory Committe on Human Radiation Experiments [ACHRE], and issued a bulky Report to President Clinton after having reviewed 4,000 "experiments".

One AAF [the Army Air Force as it was called then]  WII vet [a Mr. Figulay, if memory serves" me] was interviewed. This vet told of his having been exposed  in 1944 in an unusual manner to a substantial dose of ionizing radiation from a 50 mCi Ra-226 sealed source in a brachytherapy procedure involving the nasopharynx. Mr. Figulay was one of more than 7,000 other AAF pilots and crew who received an experimental treatment to shrink their adenoids to help with pressure equalization problems in the unpressurized bombers and fighter planes.

Of relevance, Mr. Figulay stated:

" I used to be young and healthy, and look at me now." This aging WWII vet, who served with distinction in WWII as a bomber crewmember and who truly deserves our gratitude for his service,  also stated in 1994 -- that before the radiation treatments in 1944 he was a relaxed, mellow sort of young man [to the extent possible when your B-17 bomber under is attack by German fighters, and thick anti-aircraft fire].

However, as of 1994 Mr. Figular characterized  himself as having become "obnoxious and agressive", and blamed his having become "obnoxious and agressive" on his radiation treatments in 1944. The fact he was 50 years older, and might have fallen into a quite common grumpy old man state of being was not considered.

I personally have also known many hundreds of individuals working in various radiation technology industries, and who have received low doses of ionizing radiation. I  have seen that a large percentage of these radiation industry workers have become "obnoxious and aggressive" in the 30 plus years since I first got involved with nuclear power plant operations, and medical radiotherapy.

A modest suggestion. It seems reasonable that the American Psychiatric Association in their current revision to DSM-IV, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders [ a thick manual used by all psychiatrics to label any recognized mental disorder] include a new condition. I think psychiatrists should classify any person who has become "obnoxious and aggresive" after ionizing or non-ionizing radiation as suffering from "Figulay's Syndrome".  I am sure with enough medication, a person with a serious case of  "Figulay's Syndrome" can move toward Bobby McFarren's "don't worry, be happy" state of being -and become less obnoxious and aggessive. A few Margharitas aslo help to deal with Figulay's Syndrome. As has been said: "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy".

I think the above anecdotal evidence on the part of so many individuals, when they age after receiving ionizing radiation and who become obnoxious and agressive,  warrants the psychiatric profession taking note of this serious problem.

Regards & I've wasted far too much time in my ramblings above. Back to do a little work today.

Here's a story on your guy from Popular Science:
The Man Who Was Allergic to Radio Waves | Popular Science
http://j.mp/a1PKMb

Per Segerbäck lives in a modest cottage in a nature reserve some 75 miles northeast of Stockholm. Wolves,
moose and brown bears roam freely past his front door. He keeps limited human company, because human
technology makes him physically ill. How ill? On a walk last summer, he ran into one of his few neighbors,
a man who lives in a cottage about 100 yards away. During their chat, the man's cellphone rang, and
Segerbäck, 54, was overcome by nausea. Within seconds, he was unconscious.

It's funny that he was only overcome by nausea when he heard the ring...   I guess that he is immune to all those silent em-waves that the phone is constantly emitting.

I am also allergic -- upon hearing some ringtones I am immediately overcome by Turrette's-like symptoms....

Here it is for those of you who understand Swedish:

Here is another story (from a so-called EMR_EMF group, March 1, 2010):

"I am up enjoying yet another sleepless night, one of countless nights I have gone without sleep because of my condition.

I often wondered why I lost most of my teeth in the last ten years. I didn't connect the dots on that one till I read the article in the last message you sent.

I wasn't the best at oral hygiene, but I did care for my teeth until they went to hell. I now can contribute one more symptom to my long list of crap I have gone through because of the exposure to a cell phone.

If they can determine how much radiation I endured I would like to donate what teeth I have left to research. I have been trying to get someone to do sample studies on a couple of areas on my body because of radiation damage.

I have documented damage to the nerve in my right thigh. I wore carpenter pants back when I was doing the heavy cell phone use. I switched to an ear piece to take the phone away from my head when I started to get headaches. I kept the cell phone in a pocket on my right thigh.

Now i have no nerves in the outer right thigh and have deep musculature damage also. I can only assume this because of the deep pain I am always experiencing in that area.

Well enough crying in my wheaties. Just wanted to comment,

Hope all is well

BEAR"
