Hi Danny,

My comment to Roger in an earlier post applies to this PNAS Report as well. Many of these studies are meaningless, technically unsound, yet the media, the self-centered scientists and in some cases the public, clamor for these type of articles, blogs, newscasts and yes, even scientific body reports. Apparently everyone has this vision of being a celebrity, seeing their name in lights (in this case, in print).

If there was just a bit of truth and honesty in any of these studies, one could give them the benefit of the doubt. But personally, I see none. The scientific community should be embarrassed.

Regards,

Sandy

Since there was activation in the seawater coolant, there was no "leakage" of neutrons. It's a reactor. The neutron activity isn't all going to cease instantaneously upon shutdown (or for a good time afterwards). I fail to see the point of this academic exercise.
Perhaps someone will enlighten me. Actually, I know you will.

Notice the use of the term "harmful radiation" in the text.
