[ RadSafe ] Radon "Spa" -- Quackery? -was Re: Support Radon Mine ....

Some years ago, Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance of France would pay for  
people to go to radon emporiums [basically certain underground mines with  
greatly elevated Rn-222 in air, and elevated Ra-226 and Rn-222 in the  
waters, and Ra-226 rich muds people would apply to sore elbows or joints]   
to breath radon and "take the waters". These practices have been popular  
since the time of Julius Caesar. Does this practice really help with  
various health problems like arthritis, etc. in the short-term?  
Anecdotally many people say they feel better. If there have been any  
controlled studies, I'd appreciate the references.
