Joe and other RADSAFErs posting on the Po-210-issue:

I have a few years ago been in London, just at the time when first messages about "Litwinenko" appeared in the British papers. There was a lot of nonsensical speculations and it took a long time (days) until Po-210 came out as the most likely culprit. I was shocked, because Po-210 in such extraordinary concentrations in urin would have been easily detectible within a few tens of minutes by Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry. Together with my collegue - probably I should rather say, my collegue Gabriele Wallner with me! - we showed an extremely fast way to decide on Po-210 poisoning via urine excretion.

The paper of Gabriele and me was presented at the last LSC cto onference in Paris (LSC 2010). You can easily find it on Google, if you are interested.

Yes, most of Po-210 comes from Russia, which a simple Google Research would have revealed. There you would also find, what Po-210 is used for except killing people.........

Best regards to the innocent USA, which obviously buys Po-210 from Russia.

Franz
