I think you are confusing the CDV 700 with the ORIGINAL AN/PDR-27! <grin>.

BUT - those DID have dual GM tubes - the cord connected survey probe and 
the internal "death watch" probe.  The GM appropriate for a range that 
one should only measure with a TeleTector!

The one I have could probably survive being run over by a tank - 
although I wouldn't volunteer it for that purpose.
