[ RadSafe ] A bright, clean future for Germany?

I'm not sure about Germany, but the USA is not a democracy. We are a constitutional federation. The courts, not the majority rule, decide what can and cannot be done according to the law, constitution, political influence or bent of its members, etc. If the majority vote to do something but the courts decide that what they want is illegal (e.g., racial discrimination) the government can say "no" in spite of a majority vote. So the government tells the people what they can have, regardless of what they want until the law is changed. And as with the case of nuc power, for the antis the courts are a great thing to use to fight/delay/halt progress, regardless of what the majority wants.

And they can do it for fun and profit!

Doug and RADSAFErs,
I share your concerns, but you seem to forget that there is something called
"democracy", which simplified means, that the majority defines politics.
This has been twisted around with all kind of manipulations, to produce the
desired result by the antinuclear crowd. Whether one likes it or not: In a
democracy this has (unfortunely) to be accepted!!!!!!!!!! If the crowd wants
to lay down nuclear power they should accept the consequences.

Best regards,

Franz
