[ RadSafe ] HPGe efficiency calibration source for soil samples

David,

The most cost effective solution is a PC MCA card coupled to an NaI detector  - as a hobby. The Inspector MCA units are from Canberra and can be quite pricey depending on which model you choose especially if one uses HPGe detectors. I am known to troll eBay for the hobby stuff. 

Been to Johnston Atoll lately?
