[ RadSafe ] Effective half life question

It merely the equation that shows up so often in physics - like the 
"reduced mass" of a planet/moon system, two resistors in parallel - or 
two 1/2 lives:

1/hl1 + 1/hl2 = 1/hleff

Straight forward.
