[ RadSafe ] potentional radioactive hazard in Fort Bliss (El paso) ? May be radium-226 contamination from luminous dials!!

Most likely it is residual contamination from Ra-226 from radio-luminous dials. Such contamination was not unusual in military areas.Of the 1.4 kg or so radium-226 extracted in USA a substantial portion was not accounted. Most of it has been used up to make radio-luminous compounds. There are instances of such "orphaned" radioactive material appearing in unexpected places.

Mr. Deeterink,

This report is accurate, not a hoax.  Only contamination or radioactive material found to date is a location on the floor inside a building where the site was painted to fix the contamination in place.

Dear Radsafers,

Does anyone know if this is a hoax or not?
