[ RadSafe ] Airlines diverting polar flights due solar storm

Oops - this story was on the news here in LA this morning, but when I
googled it, I copied and pasted the link from an old story.

NOAA has issued an alert for January 9, 2014:

Mostly, this is about the possibility of aurora for those in northern
latitudes (who have clear skies) tonight.
