We have to hear from the State of Tennessee radiation control program. They
are responsible for the safety of x-ray installations in their state. It is
hard to believe that this site was registered without a radiation survey by
the installers having been performed and approved. Nor is it
understandable how such a situation would not have been uncovered during
routine compliance inspections. CT units generally receive a high priority
for inspections. Finally, acceptance testing by the medical physics staff
should have revealed any shielding problems. None of this makes any
sense.
