There seems to be a discrepancy between RERF and the new measurement. Bone
measurement at 1.5 km in Hiroshima was stated to be 9.46 Gy (to jaw bone),
however RERF seems to show 0.5 Sv on a graph.

Could the difference be dose to jawbone was ~20X higher than whole body
estimate?

I don't find the radiation dose, of more than 9 gray, to be "staggering" at
all, considering proximity to the blast hypocenter. What is your overall

This article is by Brazilian scientist who first reported on this in the
70's and now has improved tools to garner more information about how much
radiation this casualty at Hiroshima's jaw bone received not far from ground
zero.
