Re: International Radiation Protection Rules for Extremity Dose in ye

The new IAEA Basic Safety Standards, Safety Series 115, 1996 and the New
European legislation, Directive 96/29/Euratom of 13 May 1996, to be fully
implemented by 13 May 2000, present dose limits that have been developed
from widely accepted radiation protection and safety principles, according
with the ICRP 60, 1991. These documents emphasize specific recommendations
about dose constraints for the operation of any source, that shall be
established to attend the conditions of the Regulatory Authority, to limit
the range of options considered in the process of optimization. For
occupational exposures, dose constraint is a source related value of
individual dose used to limit the range of options considered in the process
of optimization.
