Re: Electronic records



As one writer has already indicated, CD-R or CD-RW is a very good media for
such purposes. The shortest lifespan indicated by the manufacturer for CD-R
or CD-RW is seventy years. Some indicate one hundred or more years for CD-R
media. I believe the lifespan for magnetic media is indicated as five years.
Of course CD-R would be the best for record retention as it is a one time
write media.
The CD-RW drives have come down in price and name brand CD-R media is a
little over a dollar per unit. No name media is substantially less. It is
much less expensive in the long run than magnetic media.
