RE: Tritium consumer sources

For anyone who is interested, below is a web site with a searchable database
of 'Radioactive Items in the US military'. There are many listings for
tritium watches, sights, illuminators, exit signs, ect. Each listing
indicates isotopes, activity, and NSN or other manufacturer information.
Good collection of information.

		John,

There are many devices over the years which were
manufactured with tritium
as an illumination component after radium was no longer
used.
Compasses with 50 to 500 millicuries on parts of the compass
desired to
		glow.
Aiming devices on military tanks to ensure alignment of the
muzzle after
changes in temperature, 10 curies (99% gas) in glass
enclosures.
Siting assemblies from mortar firing weapons, 10 milicuries
to 100's of
		millicuries.
Watches, 100 microcuries to 100 millicuries.
Rifle sights as low as 30 microcuries.
There are many more. - Exit signs are everywhere and
typically contain 10 to
		50 curies.
