I have also seen some radiation-related effects in IR detectors.  Depending
on the situation, you may wish to consider UV flame detectors as an
alternative  to IR or ionization detectors in radiation areas.  UV flame
detectors are also preferred in areas where elevated operating temperatures
are normally expected
