Source Available
The Big Rock Point Restoration Project has a Cs-137 well source that we are
planning to dispose of as radwaste unless someone has a use for it and would be
willing to pay the transportation charge. We do not have an original source
certification as it was used to perform secondary calibrations.
The source was received and moved to its present location in October of 1974.
The documentation of this event identifies it as a 10 Curie Cs-137 source; this
would make it about 5 Curies today. The source was operated during instrument
calibrations by raising and lowering it within a 20 foot deep well cavity. Our
present best estimate is that the source (and holder assembly) is an approximate
8 inch diameter cylinder that is 1 to 2 inches in height.
