More Regulatory Fees

In case you missed this. Effective July 1, 2000 DOT has expanded their
HazMat registration and fee requirements to include any person who
offers for transportation, or who transports, in foreign, interstate or
intrastate commerce any quantity of hazardous material that requires
placarding. http://hazmat.dot.gov/rules/hm208c_final.htm That means any
persons who offers for transportation or who transports a Yellow III
labeled package. Previously the registration and fee only applied to
highway route controlled quantities.

The fee is $1975 per year unless the person qualifies as a small
business under 13 CFR Part 121, in which case the fee is $275 per year.
In addition there is a $25 processing fee for each registration
statement filed. Registration and payment of fee is required by
June 30, 2000 for the period July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2000. There
is provision for registration and payment up to three years in advance.
The registration form DOT F 5800.2 for July 1, 2000 through June 30,
2000 will not be available until approximately May 1, 2000 (so I am
told).

The registration form and instruction booklet can be downloaded at:
http://hazmat.dot.gov/register.htm
