Health Physicist , Guidant Corporation, Santa Clara, CA
Description
Responsible for creating, modifying, and implementing and/or maintaining
radiation safety program policies and procedures within the context of
regulatory compliance. Complete compliance with broad scope internal
corporate and external regulatory compliance entities is critical. Direct
support of all radiation safety activities (i.e., Manufacturing, R&D,
Training). Must ensure inspection readiness status at all times.
Participation/direct responsibility for radiation waste management, survey,
personnel dosimetry and training of affected personnel. Special
Requirements: Excellent writing, interpersonal and public speaking/training
skills. Ability to exercise independent judgement and assume accountability
for all related/performed radiation safety activities.
Apply/implement/reinforce rules and regulations. Alternate work shift and
local/domestic travel is required.
Qualifications
Education: MS, Radiological Health Physics or Environmental Health Physics.
BS Biology, Physical Science, Health Physics, Radiological Health Physics or
Environmental Health Physics.
Experience: 3 years minimum post-graduate applied health physics. Minimum
5 years experience in health physics working in an industrial R&D or
Manufacturing setting handling radioactive materials.
Other: Experience in operational aspects of radioactive materials program
and active decay-in-storage/hazardous waste program. Certification in DOT
Radiation/Hazardous Dangerous Goods management.
