The effective dose due to K-40 for the reference
man is conform UNSCEAR 1977 about 0.181 mSv/y
(18.1mrem/y).There exists an empirical relation
(Andrasi, A, Beleznay, E: Natural potassium
content and internal radiation burden of the
Hungarian adult population from K-40, Hlth.Phys.,
v.37, pp.591-592,1979):

H=202-0.95*t   for male
h=172-0.94*t   for female

where t is the age in years and h is the effective
dose in microSv/year.
