Re: K-40 Thread
Jim,
The total body K content is given by K.J.Ellis,
K.K.Shukla, S.H. Cohn, R.N.PiersonJr.: A predictor
for total body potassium in man based on height,
weight, sex and age: applications in metabolic
disorders, J.Lab.Clin.Med. (St Luis), v.83, no.5,
pp.716-727, 1974):
Ktot=(5.52-0.014*t)*h^2*sqrt(w) [in grams] for
male
Ktot=(4.58-0.010*t)*h^2*sqrt(w) [in grams] for
female
where t is the age of the subject in years
h is the hieght of the subject in
meters
w is the weight of the subject in kg.
According to the authors the error of the formulas
is about +/-7%.
(To be honnest, I did not read the original,only
paper in which exiasts reference to it)
Yours,
Laszlo Toro
