If there is a correlation between various childhood diseases, breast cancer, and other ailments due to the radiation put out by nuclear plants, then you should see the same results from coal fired plants. It has been shown that coal plants put out higher amounts of radionulcides, albeit different ones, than nuclear plants resulting in higher doses. However, the doses from both types are small in comparison to the variations in natural background. So to single out nuclear plants is unethical if one truly is concerned about health.
