Re: Nuclear plant wiring
This is the article, which I sent out to my news distribution group
last week. It appears to be looking at all technologies, such as
aircraft (and includes nuclear plants as well):
US Research Group to Probe Aging Wiring Safety, Paper Says
Washington, June 2 (Bloomberg) -- The White House will set up a
research group next week to look into the safety of aging electrical
wiring in aircraft, space shuttles and nuclear power plants, USA
Today reported, citing a memo from Duncan Moore, the White House's
associate director for technology. Air force, Navy and Federal
Aviation Administration documents show that damaged wire insulation
has led to fires and electrical equipment failures in military and
commercial airplanes. The group's first meeting is set for Wednesday,
with officials from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Defense
Department, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other
agencies expected to attend, USA Today said.
U.S. airlines must replace Mylar-covered insulation on 719 jetliners
to reduce the possibility of in-flight fires, according to a new
Federal Aviation Administration rule.
