			SALARY:  $27,877 - $34,846 (PAYGRADE 11)
 				       (Minimum to 100% of Midpoint)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS CONTINUED:

REQUIRED BY THE BASIC QUALIFICATIONS.  IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT
YOU CLEARLY ADDRESS THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR CORRECT
ASSESSMENT OF APPLICATION.  PLEASE USE ADDITIONAL PAPER, IF

1. Experience conducting standard and specialized radiological tests
and inspections.

- Please detail all experience conducting standard and specialized
radiological tests and inspections.

2. Knowledge in nuclear physics and radiobiology as related to
radiation protection.

- Please list all course work and/or training in health physics,
radiological physics, or other related courses.  Also list all
experience controlling/protecting levels of radiation emitted from
complex radiation-producing equipment and materials in medical
and industrial facilities.

3. Knowledge of various kinds and degrees of radiation exposure in
relationship to radiation standards.

- Please list all course work/training in radiological physics, health
physics or related courses.  Also list all training in radiographic
exposure device operation, monitoring radiographic exposure
monitoring devices, radiographic instruments, radiation safety, or
fundamentals of radiological health;  Also indicate all experience in
applying such training or course work.

4. Ability to communicate effectively.

- Applicant may be required to take a writing sample test at the
interview, if scheduled.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATES:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree in health physics, radiological
physics, or related area.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

An incumbent in this class inspects, assures compliance and recommends
enforcement activities for highly technical radiation facilities
operated
under federal and state mandated regulatory programs.

WEIGHT OF EXAMINATION:  100% TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Analyze, inspect and monitor state and federally contracted radiation
facilities, equipment and procedures.  Enforces regulations and makes
determination of compliance, makes recommendation to manager.
Instructs and educates staff at facilities on regulatory compliance
issues
and appropriate safety measures.  Conducts special investigations, and
prepares reports of activities.  Participates as a member in
Radiological
Emergency Response drills and events.  Administers the Office of
Radiation Control Dosimetry Program.  Reviews facility plans for
appropriate shielding requirements, equipment layout and operation, and
makes recommendation with respect to compliance.  Meets with
representatives of health and industrial facilities, other government
agencies, and the public to discuss radiation use and control.  Trains
and
provides technical guidance to others in inspection methods and
techniques, and in the operation of testing equipment.  Establishes and
maintains a registration database that will identify and track the
location
and use of radiation-producing equipment and materials.  Assists with
the
development, review, and revision of regulations for the Delaware
Radiation Control Authority.  Performs related work as required.

vacation and sick leave are credited on a pro-rated basis.
