Czech Authority to Rule on Temelin License in July, Paper Says

Prague, June 29 (Bloomberg) -- The Czech government's Nuclear Safety
Office will decide within two weeks if fuel cells can be placed in
Temelin, the country's second nuclear power plant, Czech daily Mlada
Fronta Dnes reported. Temelin, being built by CEZ AS, the country's
dominant power utility, should start its first nuclear reaction in
one of its reactors two months after the fuel is loaded, with the
reactor expected to be up to full output in May, when it is expected
to start generating power for commercial use. The office now is
studying the documentation for the reactor and still must do an on-
site inspection before deciding on the license, the daily reported.

Austrian government officials and environmental groups such as
Greenpeace criticized CEZ, which is 67.6 percent controlled by the
government, for completing Temelin.
