HP staff position at Duke University





A Staff Health Physicist position is immediately available in the Duke
Radiation Safety Division.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Laser safety program oversight
in Medical Center and University. Will participate in oversight of medical
center and academic campus radiation safety.

Must have a minimum of 3-yr medical center radiation safety experience and
good verbal communication skills. In addition, must be able to interact with
hospital workers and academic professors effectively. Most importantly, must
be a team player in a large radiation safety group. The candidate is
expected to have a master's degree in radiation safety, medical physics or
other related areas of health physics.

Currently, we have 14 members in our division. We have eight (8) different
radiation licenses from the State of North Carolina.

The Clinical Medical Center consists of a 1000-bed in-patient facility. The
Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology services perform nearly 20,000
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures annually, including around 100
in-patient iodine 131 treatments for neurological and endocrine
malignancies. Radiation facilities on campus include the Duke Free Electron
laser Laboratory (1 GeV), the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory,
several high activity irradiators, a 30 MeV medical cyclotron and several
radiation therapy linear accelerators.

papers and lectures at local, national, and international meetings each year
