Perhaps you should read John's post again.  "The japs of wwII remain the
enemy" is what he said.   "of wwII"  I see nothing offensive about that,
although I would say it would depend on the individual wwII participant and
his behavior after the war.  John said nothing about offspring.  There was
no personal attack.  Are we going to now pretend that nobody used the word
"japs" during wwII and that Japanese behavior during wwII was a fine example
for us all.   People should be a little cautious about being offended, it
benefits nobody.  When they are not, wars may eventually result.  I am not a
victim of my forefathers, I am their beneficiary.   Also, I cannot accept
the Japanese culture that led to the behavior of the Japanese military
during wwII, just as I cannot accept the Russian (my ethnic background)
culture that led to the behavior of the Soviet communists for 70 years, or
the Amercan culture that led to the Trail of Tears.  It is time for mankind
to admit cultural mistakes and learn from them.
