Bjoern,

Please keep in mind, that electricity is not electricity. During wintertime
usually baseload from hydroelectric power is extremely low, because of the
frozen lakes and rivers and therefore it will not be available to the same
extent as during summer time - when everything is lit well by the midnight
sun, when it is rather warm and no heating is required and when much less
baseload is needed, except when it is time for the Swedish-Finnish athletic
competition....

In order to judge the real influence of import-export, one should carefully
distinguish between base-load and peak-load. I hope you know that there is
a big difference in prices per kW/h. In Austria we even use the cheap
base-load from hydroelectric power plants located on the Danube during the
night (which nobody buys during the night!) to pump up water from high
mountain reservoirs to the next higher ones, in order to be able to produce
peak power the next morning for all these people getting up, heating their
water for tea and coffee, taking showers and even some are abusing
electricity to shave their faces (I have a beard....).

By the way, Bjoern. I remember from my early years, that there was once a
big discussion about the exploitation of the Vindel-Aelv, which I knew
well, because I have worked there once. Some celebrities threatened to
leave Sweden, if even the last untouched river in Sweden would have been
exploited (it must have been during the second half of the sixties). What
has become of the Vindelaelv? Additionally I wonder from what hydroelectric
power plants Sweden could produce additional energy - it seamed to me that
everything of interest had been used for electricity generation. Du kan
