Position available at TAMU Nuclear Science Center
The Texas A&M University Nuclear Science Center invites applications for the
position of Technical Lab Coordinator. The Technical Lab Coordinator will
assist experimenters in their needs for reactor services or facility
services; provide coordination when necessary between experimenters and
reactor operations; serve as chief contact for new experimenters; assist the
staff in the planning, safety evaluation, review, and implementation of
experiments; maintain NSC labs and counting systems performing calibrations
and gamma-ray spectroscopy; and characterize the NSC reactor experiment
locations using direct measurement and computer models. He/she will work
closely with the Reactor Operations staff in the review of reactor
experiments.
The successful candidate must have a B.S or M.S. degree in nuclear
engineering, health physics, or related field. The candidate must be able to
obtain a Senior Reactor Operator License on a TRIGA Research Reactor within
9 months of employment. Preference will be given to a candidate who has
practical experience in gamma spectroscopy and neutron activation analysis
(NAA).
The Texas A&M University Nuclear Science Center is a multi-disciplinary
research and education center supporting basic and applied research in
nuclear related filed of science and technology. The facilities of the
center include a 1-MW pool-type TRIGA reactor, a 2-MW micro-beam
accelerator, a Co-60 gamma calibration range, a real-time neutron
radiography facility, hot cells, and radiation measurement and radiochemical
