Re: Anti-nuclear sentiment
Hello,
We must also remind ourselves that it is a very vocal MINORITY that
creates the anti-nuclear sentiment. Recent public opinion surveys
by Bisconti Research show that the majority of public opinion in the
United States is in favor of nuclear power (>60%). The same
people believe that the majority of other people do not favor
nuclear power.
This is also true for those of us in the nuclear business. Most of
us believe that the majority of the public is not in favor of nuclear
power. But, this belief is wrong and many times makes us rather
cynical about doing some projects when we shouldn't be.
For more information on the survey results you can view the following web
link to a PDF file.

Bisconti has also presented her results at several ANS meetings, so you
might be able to find some additional information in the ANS
Transactions.

It seems that some are mystified about the reasons for so much
anti-nuclear
sentiment.
