Re: I-131 Bioassay

In addition to the fraction of intakes in the urine reported by NUREG-4884, Reg Guide 8.20, Applications of Bioassay for I-125 and I-131, states that radiochemical analysis of urine and in-vivo counting are both acceptable to the NRC for estimating internal radioactivity.

With an appropriate quench set, a liquid scintillation counter should be an effective method for analyzing samples of I-131 (606 keV beta at 0.89 prob)
