EPDs in Medical Environments

Is anyone currently using electronic personal dosimeters for radiation
monitoring of X-ray workers (in addition to film or TLD)?  I'm thinking of
personnel who may install/perform maintenance on X-ray systems who may have
potential for inadvertant/unexpected exposures during installation
procedures.  If so, would the EPDs have sufficient response time for
sub-one second type of exposures, as are typical of radiographic units?
Besides also requiring an integrating dosimeter such as film, what other
limitations would be involved if using this technology?
