Yugoslav Uranium Said Dangerous
But others argue that not all the depleted uranium
vaporizes immediately and radioactive derivatives can linger in the
air for months.
What is a radioactive derivative of DU, and how does it differ from
radioactive derivatives of natural U?
If DU does not vaporize, then it remains a solid, and should fall to the
ground quickly, n'es pas? And if it falls to the ground quickly, then
any radioactive daughters would follow the normal environmental pathways,
it would seem.
Sunday evening, CNN Headline News had Christiana Amanpour (sp.) talking
about this 'toxic material' causing all kinds of cancers in vets. They
showed a vet with testicular cancer who had been in Kosovo. I think the
military should become proactive in doing thorough physical exams on its
personnel including DNA analyses and biopsies, if it wants to preclude
this kind of nonsense from causing knee-jerk reactions and policy changes
on remunerations for "radiation exposure".
