Opportunity:
Sr. Safety Specialist
Job Description:
Responsible for independently performing safety and
environmental compliance duties, including conducting and participating
in employees safety and environmental training; inspection/delivery of
radioactive materials; packaging of hazardous material for shipment;
hazardous spill cleanups; hazard decontamination; and hazardous waste
management; conducts surveys for evidence of contamination; must possess
excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, and be
able to deal tactfully with all levels of Center personnel.
Education:
BS degree (safety/environmental/health/related science); 2-3
years related experience appropriate to safety management or equivalent.
Professional certification and training a plus.
Required Skills:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and potential exposure
to biohazards, hazardous materials, corrosive chemicals, solvents,
radiological, or biological agents.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with applicable EPA, MDE, NRC, DOT, and OSHA
regulations.
