civil defense instruments

Radsafers,



Does anyone know of any references or web sites that can tell me about the 

survey meters that were produced for civil defense purposes?  I'm talking 

about the yellow meters with the letters "CD" on the side.  It appears that 

there are GM meters and perhaps Ion Chambers, but I'd rather get some facts 

than rely on my own assumptions.



Also, if anyone has ever worked with any of these and could comment on their 

quality, I'd be interested to hear that as well.
